Hi there — I'm Amelia
I work as a project manager. I’m a parent and an expat living in London, United Kingdom.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to United Kingdom wasn't in the master plan. Like many international moves, it started as a job opportunity and rapidly grew into something far more substantial.
The early months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that worked for us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Created AcrossBorders Family
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance based on everyday life in United Kingdom.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on insights from residing in United Kingdom
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever there are meaningful changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism-board resource
- Not a platform for sponsored reviews
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in United Kingdom continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in London or anywhere in United Kingdom, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Amelia
